The Richmond School District is seeking a part-time (0.7143 FTE) secondary Technology Education teacher.The teaching load for this assignment currently consists of two blocks of Applied Design Skills Technology 8, two blocks of Metalwork 9-12 and one block of Woodwork 9-12.
A demonstrated commitment to implement all aspects of the BC curriculum, including a competency and inquiry-based, big ideas approach to teaching and learning. A demonstrated ability to build rapport and engage students from diverse backgrounds, a wide variety of learning needs, and styles. The applicant should be willing to participate in collaborative planning and assessment within the Technology Education Department.
Burnett is a comprehensive 8-12 school with a focus on student voice and promoting a well-rounded education. To enhance the level of student engagement at Burnett Secondary School the staff is building stronger connections between what students are learning in the classroom and real-world examples. Our focus is to increase student motivation and inspire them to be accountable for their own learning. We continually examine how we can incorporate aboriginal perspectives and the First People’s principles of learning into our teaching.
Through staff working committees, professional development, collaboration days, student voice, and parent feedback, our thoughtful community has focused on the following areas: 1) Professional development on mindfulness, resilience, trauma-informed practice, equity, diversity, and inclusion; 2) incorporating Indigenous Peoples’ history, perspectives, and learning into our community.
The successful candidate must be a qualified Technology Education teacher with current academic and professional preparation as well as teaching experience at all secondary grade levels. All candidates must be certified by the BC Ministry of Education – Teacher Regulation Branch.
